$1000 paella?? are you serious?

Sofrito on E. 57th NYC is offering a $1000 paella with truffles and truffle oil, baby eel, octopus, Maine lobster and Alaskan prawns and ingredients imported from Italy, Spain, etc. Is the chef Ricardo Cardona smoking crack again, and I quote him ”Who said ‘recession’? Who said ‘bad economy’? I think that’s the way to fight the bad economy, and if you have the money to spend, then why not enjoy yourself?” Here’s what the folks at Boqueria had to say about it:
