just thinking about tomorrow

Monday, September 11th, 2006

So I raised my American flag in my front yard and posted a sign beside the flag which said “remember”, for the only reason that I want us not to forget what happened five years ago, and I did not do so because I blindly endorse the current administration and their policies, but because I remember all the wives and husbands, children, moms and dads, brothers, sisters, etc. who just disappeared for all intensive purposes, five years ago tomorrow.  We can mourn and celebrate the lives of those gone without making a political statement.  And I sure wish that this day would be about remembering so many of the people who perished in the attacks on 9/11.  Of course we can also remember and mourn the deaths of all those who have perished in the conflicts/war in Afghanistan and Iraq, I do so every  Sunday, that seems to be my day to reflect.

But such a catastrophic event deserves it’s own day, and please, please, please, for one day, just think of the lives that are no longer with us, celebrate those still with us, and just not attach it with such partisan b.s.
